Then, Vitas Hospice invites you and your pet to participate in a pet program, by visiting VITAS nursing home patients. Pets provide a renewal of friendship and show unconditional love to hospice patients. Many patients have had to give up their pets and they miss the interaction and devotion. The visits leave behind memories not only of the visit, but also of past experiences. All kinds of pets are invited to join! Skills 1. Your pet must enjoy people, like to be petted, and get along with other animals. 2. You should also enjoy people, have good communication and listening skills, patience, compassion, and dependability. 3. Attend and pass a Pet Screening Session with your pet. 4. Attend a free volunteer orientation (humans only!). 5. Provide proof of current vaccinations for your pet. 6.
